The quality of the time available for laboratory experiments can be significantly improved through the use of virtual reality technology.
#MCGRAW HILL VIRTUAL FROG DISSECTION WORKSHEET HOW TO#
This will help students to get a preview of how to use the lab equipment and run experiments without using the lab hardware/software equipment. Virtual Reality Lab Assistant (VRLA) demonstration model is aligned for engineering and material science experiments to be performed by undergraduate and graduate students in the course as a pre- lab simulation experience. You can see inside our two accelerators, three experimental areas, accelerator component fabrication and testing areas, high-performance computing areas and laser labs. Take a virtual tour of the campus of Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. Its distance learning program serves over 20,000 students every year. Coastline College has been a leader in the development of distance learning and media-based education for nearly 30 years and currently offers courses through PDA, Internet, DVD, CD-ROM, TV, and Videoconferencing technologies. In this presentation, short demos will be given of several online learning environments including a virtual biology lab, a marine science module, a Spanish lab, and a virtual discussion world. Goals of critical thinking, social interaction, peer collaboration, group support, and enhanced learning can be achieved in surprising new ways with this innovative approach to peer-to-peer communication in a virtual discussion world. They can examine things, manipulate objects, read signs, watch video clips, hear sounds, and jump to other locations. When characters move about and encounter other people (players) they may freely communicate. In these virtual worlds, buildings, gathering places, conference rooms, labs, science rooms, and a variety of other “real world†elements are evident. Upon entering this world they select a personalized identity represented by a digitized character (avatar) that can freely move about, interact with the environment, and communicate with other characters. Imagine a virtual world that students enter online, by logging onto their computer from home or anywhere they have web access. Virtual Labs and Virtual Worlds Coastline Community College has under development several virtual lab simulations and activities that range from biology, to language labs, to virtual discussion environments.
